Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba, a third-year student at the Tshwane University of Technology, was allegedly stabbed to death by her lover.
On February 2, 2023, Ngcebo Thusi allegedly attacked the 20-year-old in her student apartment in Ekhaya Junction, Pretoria.
When they were unable to reach Ntokozo via phone, her friends notified security at her residence halls.
When security personnel arrived at Ntokozo’s apartment, they discovered her dead with several knife wounds on her upper body.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) was notified, and following further investigation, a male suspect was detained on a murder accusation.
The suspect is suspected to be Ntokozo’s lover as he was the last person she was seen with before she died.
It is alleged that he stabbed her to death because she had cheated on him with a wealthy man who now pays her lavish lifestyle.
Colonel Dimakatso Sello, a police spokesperson, stated that the deceased was drinking with others, including her lover, on Wednesday, and that the friends left them alone that night.
"The victim was discovered dead the following morning with stab wounds to the neck. The ex-boyfriend has been taken in for questioning by the police. Investigations continue," stated Sello.
