Angola's coach vows to defeat the Black Stars in qualifying for the AFCON.

Angola's coach, Pedro Goncalves, is optimistic about their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Ghana.

Angola failed to qualify for the 2021 AFCON, which will be held in Cameroon, after failing to advance past the group stage in 2019. They are now faced with the challenging task of reentering the competition.

The Palancas Negras will travel to Ghana on March 23 for their third qualifying match, seeking their second competitive victory against Ghana, before hosting the Black Stars four days later in Luanda.

Despite Ghana's status as a four-time African champion, head coach Pedro Goncalves believes it is still possible to achieve success against them.

They are among the top teams. I observed their performance at the World Cup and found them to be a formidable team that made great strides. They have a large number of very talented players, with more of them residing abroad.

"We will face a formidable opponent in Africa, but our goal is to grow, compete, and test ourselves against the best teams.

"This is our state of mind when facing the Black Stars. He told Ghanasportspage.com, "Beware of us, and have faith that we will defeat the Black Stars in a one-on-one match."

Group E is currently led by Ghana with four points, followed by Angola with the same number of points but fewer goals.
