CBS Declares 'NCIS Day' to Commemorate Twenty Years on Air

CBS has declared Monday, September 25 "NCIS Day" in honour of the show's 20th anniversary on the air, and will kick off the event with a mini NCIS marathon by airing the NCIS Season one premiere episode, which starred Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sasha Alexander, and David McCallum.

In the episode, a Marine dies aboard Air Force One, resulting in the grounding of the aircraft as NCIS, the FBI, and the Secret Service contend for jurisdiction over the case. 

Naturally, Special Agent Gibbs (Harmon) finds a means to obtain the body for Ducky's (McCallum) autopsy, effectively assuming command of the investigation. Nevertheless, he continues to compete with Secret Service Agent Kate Todd (Alexander), who is revealed to be courting a second Marine officer who dies under similar circumstances as the first. 

Gibbs and Todd realise they are dealing with a plot to assassinate the president and must solve the case swiftly. Todd loses her position as a Secret Service agent as a consequence of her actions, but is hired by Gibbs, who was impressed by her.Final episode of the second season of NCIS (original air date: May 10, 2005)

The series premiere will be followed by the second season finale of NCIS, titled "SWAK," in which Tony DiNozzo (Weatherly) opens a letter addressed to NCIS that has been sealed with a kiss, assuming it is for him, only to release a mysterious white powder into the squad room. The team is quarantined while Abby (Pauley Perrette) investigates the origin of the substance.

 It turns out to be a genetically modified, lethal form of the pandemic.
