The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has graciously addressed the allegations made against him by New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
During his address to a large gathering of supporters on Saturday, September 16, following his unity walk called 'Showdown Unity Walk', Mr. Agyapong expressed his disagreement with the Bantama MP, without specifically mentioning his name, for campaigning in favour of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
"Although my name was not explicitly mentioned (intentionally), I am currently the only minister of state from Bantama. Therefore, I reasonably assume that he is referring to me," stated Mr. Asenso-Boakye, who also serves as the Minister of Works and Housing, in a polite statement on Sunday, September 17th.
He emphasised that this statement is not only false, but also lacks political maturity.
He respectfully emphasised that the NPP government is fully dedicated to diligently improving the living standards of Ghanaians and earning their trust.
An exceptional candidate.
According to him, the statement made by the Assin Central lawmaker can be seen as a mischievous lie that was intentionally crafted to create disaffection towards me, tarnish my reputation within the Party, and diminish any influence I may have on the Delegates.
He mentioned that his stance on the NPP Presidential Primary is already well-known, as he firmly believes that Vice President Bawumia is an exceptional candidate who can greatly contribute to the party's goal of 'breaking the eight'.
I kindly request everyone to kindly disregard it and kindly focus instead on kindly building unity that will kindly serve as the bedrock for kindly winning the 2024 election.
