Man found guilty of stealing after being suspected of killing a businesswoman in Kumasi

In the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti Region, Allister John, the main suspect in the murder of the 35-year-old businesswoman at Sokoban, has been found guilty on two counts of stealing from Gloria Morrison, another businesswoman who lived in Bantama.

He was accused of taking a cell phone valued at 4,000 Ghana cedis and stealing GH¢167,666 in cash from the plaintiff in a case that was heard by the Asokwa Circuit Court.

Allister John allegedly worked as a receptionist for the complainant at a Bantama hotel in 2022 before leaving and then coming back in July of 2023, according to the police.

The complainant asked Allister John to assist in adjusting the settings on her phone when he was rehired at the hotel, but he took off with the device.

Later, he used the mobile app to access the phone and take GH¢167,666 out of the complainant's bank account.

On Friday, October 6, 2023, the verdict on the two charges will be read at the Asokwa District Court.
