8 people killed in a deadly collision on the Akroso-Asamankese road.

 

Regrettably, a tragic accident occurred on the Akyem Akroso-Asamankese road in the Eastern region on Sunday November 12, 2023.

 This devastating incident has led to the unfortunate loss of eight lives and has left numerous individuals with severe injuries.

 There was a collision between a White Toyota Hiace and a Pontiac Vibe private car. The Toyota Hiace had fifteen passengers on board and was coming from Bantama, a suburb of Akim Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso district. The Pontiac Vibe was en route from Asamankese to Achiase. 

According to witnesses present, the Pontiac Vibe was traveling at a high speed when it experienced a tire blowout. This unfortunate incident resulted in the driver losing control and colliding with the Toyota Hiace, resulting in a tragic outcome. 

The injured were quickly taken to the Asamankese Government Hospital for urgent medical attention, thanks to the prompt response from emergency services. Regrettably, eight individuals lost their lives in the accident, and their bodies were transported to the hospital's morgue. 

The Police MTTD is expected to carry out a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident. 

As the affected community mourns the loss of lives, they kindly request that the government provide payment to the contractor in order to expedite the completion of construction work on the road. 

The work done on the road has unfortunately made it more vulnerable to fatal crashes. 

Suleiman Alhassan, the foreman of Megida construction company, mentioned that despite the financial challenges, the company aims to complete the road by the end of the year.
